The clip below is from an Evening Sun article entitled Former mayor tries for seat on New Berlin village board, which ran on pages 1 and 3 of the March 15th, 2010 edition.

Apparently the village of New Berlin paid $3350 for a website - http://thevillageofnewberlin.org - that consists of little but a Wordpress blog and a couple of free, Open Source plugins. The same website would have cost one-fifth of that sum here! In fact, for a Drupal website with the exact same content and capability, yet much more powerful and extensible than Wordpress (and easier to use for end-users to post their own content), $500 or $600 would be the most we would expect to charge, provided the content is supplied by the customer. But if we had to write the copy and take the pictures ourselves, we could still do it for a fraction of what it cost the New Berlin taxpayers.
